Why we built our screening process the way we did.
"Vetted" gets used loosely across the tutoring market — sometimes it means nothing more than "uploaded a CV." Here's exactly what it means at TutorQatar, and why we built it this way.
Every tutor who wants to join our network talks to us directly before they're accepted — not just a CV upload or an automated questionnaire. We ask specifically about their curriculum and exam board experience (which IGCSE board, which IB level, which A-Level board), because "I've tutored Math" and "I've taught Edexcel A-Level Math specifically" are very different claims.
Rather than just asking a tutor to describe their approach, we ask them to walk through how they'd handle a specific, realistic scenario — a student who understands a concept in class but freezes on exam questions, for instance. This surfaces the difference between a tutor who's genuinely good at diagnosing a learning gap and one who's only ever delivered prepared material.
When a family submits the Hire a Tutor form, we match based on the specific subject, curriculum, exam board and level requested — not just whichever tutor is free first. A tutor who's excellent at IB HL Physics isn't automatically the right match for an IGCSE Core Math request.
This is the step most platforms skip entirely. We check in with parents after the first few sessions specifically to confirm the tutor is genuinely the right fit — not just that a booking happened. If it's not working, we help find a better match rather than leaving the family to figure it out alone.
A strong degree doesn't guarantee someone can explain a stuck concept to a distracted teenager, and a generic "verified tutor" badge on a marketplace listing doesn't tell you whether that specific person has taught your child's specific exam board. Our process is built around the actual variables that determine whether a tutoring relationship works: real curriculum-specific experience, genuine teaching ability (not just subject knowledge), and accountability after the match is made, not just before.
If you want to experience this directly, tell us your child's subject, curriculum and schedule on the Hire a Tutor form, or read more about our approach on the About Us page.
Tell us your child's subject, curriculum and schedule — we'll match you with a vetted tutor within 24 hours.
